Emergency Medical Technology-Basic Certificate

Emergency Medical Technology-Basic is an instructional program that prepares individuals to function in the pre-hospital environment. The EMT-Basic program provides instruction in basic life support care of sick and injured persons. This includes: airway assessment, communications, documentation, general pharmacology, hemorrhage control, ambulance operations, and splinting of adult, pediatric and infant patients; and special care of patients exposed to heat, cold, radiation or contagious disease. Students who complete the program will be eligible to take the National Registry’s Exam, EMTBASIC.

- Be 18 years of age prior to the completion of the course.
- Have an ACT composite score of 18 or better or TABE score of 12 or better.
