NUR 2119 - Nursing III


9 Credit Hours

This course provides students with both didactic and clinical learning experiences designed to provide nursing care to the child-bearing family, children and adults with acute and chronic illnesses. This course builds on the development of clinical reasoning to provide compassionate, coordinated, age and culturally appropriate, safe and effective physiological and psychosocial nursing care across the lifespan. This course focuses on wellness, health promotion and prevention of illness to enhance health outcomes of individuals and families. Supervised learning experiences in the college nursing laboratory and selected clinical agencies are provided. A grade of “C” or above is required for the theory component and satisfactory completion of the clinical component in order to progress to NUR 2129 . If this does not occur, both the theory and clinical components must be retaken together. Clock hours: 90 theory/135 clinical.

Prerequisite: NUR 1109 , EPY 2533 , NUR 1209  or NUR 1316 .
Lecture Hours: Six hours of lecture.
Clinical Hours: 9 hours clinical practice per week.
